I was born in 1964, and I remember hearing "sunday will never be the same"
and "lazy day" when they were out. Thanks for the great songs.
You have a beautiful voice. I had sunday will nevers melody stuck in my head
for the last few months and I could not remember what song it was!
I am so happy to finally hear it again. Your band and The Monkees captured
the sound of the 60s better than anyone. It really sounds like I'm there when I
listen. Beautiful work. Bless you and thank you.

The sounds were fresh and our minds were open. Long live the spirit of the 60’s – the spirit of peace, love, brotherhood, and freedom.

Grace Slick; Jefferson Airplane; Case Elliot; Mama's and the Papa's; and
Spanky McFarlane; Spanky and Our Gang, are all names and voices of the 60's.
Of those voices, Spanky is the voice I remember as being the most enjoyable.
She has the softness of a new baby's touch; richness of dark-chocolate and
the power of a dynamo to drive her music home. She can paint a picture in
words and music like no other of her time; "Sunday Will Never Be The Same;"
"I'd Like To Get To Know You," or "Lazy Days" Elaine
"Spanky" McFarlane and
Our Gang have, and always will be THE sound of the 60's. It is all too sad
that the Gang didn't get the publicity or recognition that other groups of
that era, also too bad the writers and promotion directors didn't or
wouldn't see this group for what it could be instead of what it wasn't.
It isn't that other groups were any better or any worse than their
contemporary, no, far from it. It's just that at the time record companies
pushed one over the other and saw to it that they had the concert dates,
writers and such to put them more in the spotlight. Spanky and Our Gang had
it all, they couldn't get the promotion to make it big. However, big they
became with the few songs they recorded and with the voice of Spanky. A sad
day when the group broke up and sadder still at the loss of Malcolm Hale,
Lefty Baker and Oz Bach. Oddly enough, "Sunday WILL Never Be The Same."

I recently found a various artist tape with Sunday Will Never Be The Same on it. I had forgotten how much I loved that song. Shortly after I discovered the tape, the song seemed to be everywhere on the radio. Great song. Great voice Spanky.

It was the late 60's. It was after 11pm on a saturday and we were in the back of our convertable headed for the airport to watch planes take off and land. That was the first time I heard I'd like to get to know you. I have loved it since
What a great group of talented musicians the gang was. Every time i play that I so wish they could of remained on for years to come to fill the world with more great music. They will not be forgotten and will brighten peoples days when ever they are heard.
Thanks

Happy Birthday, Spanky! I'm not far behind you in birthdays...
The music of today doesn't compare to the great music of the 60's... I heard you many years ago in Las Vegas and still loved your band (and always will). God bless!

Hey hello,
This is just to say that I ‘reinvented’ this fantastic group after forty years. In the city where I live – Utrecht in the Netherlands - is a tiny AM radio station called Radio Paradijs. Its playing sixties and seventies music, and it was via this station that I heard Like to get to know you and Sunday will never be same again, after some forty years … In the sixties I listened to legendary British pirate radio stations as Radio Caroline, Radio England, Radio London, Radio Scotland etc. These stations played Spanky and all kind of other great US and UK bands, what a time and what a music!
I have downloaded both songs and play them in my car, the memories these songs bring back are incredible.
Why not releasing these beautiful songs again? Does anybody know if this could be done?
Best regards,

Just had to add my compliments to the site. I was way past being a child of
the '60s or '70s but the group had such a fresh sound and Spanky had that
wonderfully clear voice. Who could not listen and love the sound?
